Galaxy Ring

Samsung has confirmed the Galaxy Ring will launch in Australia in mid-October, but has yet to reveal a specific launch date or pricing. The manufacturer did however note you'll only be able to buy the Galaxy Ring through Samsung's own stores - both online and in person. No other retailer will be ranging it.

Announced alongside the the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, back in July, the Galaxy Ring is Samsung's first finger-based wearable. While the Galaxy Ring Ring has been available in some markets for a few months now, the Australian launch has been unusually staggered.

You'll be able to get the Galaxy Ring in silver, black, or gold. No matter which colour you pick, it has a titanium build. Samsung will also make sizing kits available, to help you work out which of the 13 sizes are right for you. Samsung recommends you wear one of the dummy rings for at least 24 hours before making your order.

In terms of functionality, the Galaxy Ring is largely a fitness tracker. It has three sensors - an accelerometer, heart rate sensor, and skin temperature sensor - which are used to measure your heart rate, activity, and sleep. It's the same kind of information you'd get from a Galaxy Watch, but without the other smart features. The Galaxy Ring isn't going to vibrate if you get a notification, for example.

Samsung says you'll get up to seven days per charge from the Galaxy Ring, and you'll top it up using a charging case.

The Galaxy Ring will naturally work best with Samsung handsets - and can even work in tandem with a Galaxy Watch for more accurate metrics - but can also work with other Android phones. You'll miss out on some features like a daily energy score if you're using a phone from a different manufacturer with the Galaxy Ring. iPhone compatibility is out of the question.

While we don't know local pricing, the Galaxy Ring sells for USD$399 in the United States. That's just under $600 at current exchange rates. Unlike rivals like the Oura Ring, the Galaxy Ring won't have a monthly subscription fee. Samsung does say it may charge for some AI features at the end of 2025, however.
