Your plan does not include a home phone line. You will not be able to make or receive calls, or support a lift or medical or security alarm which relies on a phone line to operate. If you require a home phone line please contact Telstra to discuss if this plan is right for you.
Telstra 5G Home Modem
Telstra 5G Home Modem is all the equipment you need to connect your home to 5G-fast internet. The Modem has Wi-Fi 6 support to give you the Wi-Fi performance you need to take advantage of those 5G speeds on your devices. The Telstra 5G Home Modem is only for use with the Telstra 5G Home Internet plan. Included for new customers who stay connected for 24 months. If you cancel before 24 months you must return the modem in good working order.
Data Allowance
Once you exceed your included data allowance, your speed will be capped at 1.5Mbps download for the Basic and Essential plans, 25Mbps download for the Premium plan, and slowed further in busy periods until your next billing cycle. You will not have the option to purchase more data or top up with these plans.
- Basic and Essential: 1.5Mbps supports some ordinary internet activity (e.g. web browsing, social media, data calls), although limited to a single user at any time and content may be slow to load. 1.5Mbps isn't suitable for large file downloads, HD and 4K video or other high-data speed applications like video conferencing or gaming, and may not support ordinary use of internet-dependent medical devices
- Premium: 25Mbps is suitable for 1-3 people using multiple connected devices. It will allow simultaneous streaming of multiple Standard Definition (480p) videos, emails, web browsing and social media. Or streaming of a single High Definition (1080p) video, if there are no other online activities.
5G Home Internet Network Access and Speeds
Speeds experienced may be slower over Wi-Fi and can also be impacted by other factors such as the distance and line of sight between the serving 5G mobile tower and the modem, the number of users online, where your modem is located and how far your connected devices are from it, weather, congestions and your in-premises set up. Geolocking
The 5G Home Internet Plan includes a Telstra 5G Home Modem which is a fixed modem device. You may only use your modem at the home address you provided when you took up this plan. If you move your modem outside your home area your download speeds will be capped at a maximum of 1.5Mbps.
If you move home, you may no longer be eligible for the Telstra 5G Home Internet Plan. If you intend to move, please contact Telstra to discuss whether your plan can be moved with you. If it can’t be, it will be cancelled and you will need to return your modem.
Things you need to know:
Your month-to-month plan may change (including price and inclusions). With no lock-in, you can change your plan once a month or leave. If you leave, just pay out your device, accessories or services in full.
Telstra 5G: Telstra currently offers 5G in select areas and is progressively rolling it out to other areas. In non-5G coverage areas, you’ll automatically switch to our 4G or 3G. Check coverage at the Telstra website.
4GX: The Telstra Mobile Network offers 4GX in all capital CBDs and selected suburban and regional areas and is progressively rolling out to more places. In other coverage areas around Australia, you’ll automatically switch to our fastest available 4G or 3G. Check coverage at the Telstra website.
Typical download speeds in 4GX areas are 5 -300Mbps with category 16 devices, 5-200Mbps with category 11 devices, 5-150Mbps with category 9 devices, 2-100Mbps with category 6 devices, and 2-75Mbps with category 4 devices. Outside 4GX areas, you will switch to our fastest available 4G or 3G speeds. Speeds vary for reasons like location, distance from base stations, terrain, user numbers, hardware/software configuration, download source and upload destination.
Month-to-month plans: If you cancel your service, you will receive a pro rata refund for the remainder of your month. If you have any device, accessory or service add-ons attached to your plan, you will have to pay any remaining amount owing on your next bill.
Device Payment Contract: You must have an eligible Telstra Data Plan in order to have a Device Payment Contract. If you cancel your Device Payment Contract early, cancel your data plan during the device payment term or move to an ineligible data plan during the payment term, you’ll need to pay out your device, in full. Device discounts do not apply to cancelled Device Payment Contracts.

Telstra isn't usually the best option for more budget-conscious customers, but if you're after quality, reliability and speed, Telstra has plenty of offer with a wide range of NBN and mobile broadband plans.
Types of Telstra plans
NBN
If you're after a Telstra NBN plan, you can pick from six speed tiers: NBN 25, NBN 50, NBN 100, NBN 500, NBN 750, and NBN 1000. Just be aware that NBN 500 plans are only available to addresses that have an FTTP or HFC connection type.
That being said, most FTTN and FTTC addresses can now request a free upgrade to FTTP by ordering an NBN 500 plan or faster, through an eligible provider like Telstra. Read more about the free upgrade process here.
Telstra offers two types of NBN plans: "Upfront" and "internet-only".
Upfront plans include a modem and 4G backup, and are bundled with a home phone landline at no extra cost, with unlimited calls to standard Australian mobiles and landlines.
Internet-only plans, like the name suggests, only give you internet. You don't get the modem, 4G backup, or phone calls, but as such, they are cheaper. Telstra will still sell you a modem if you buy an internet-only plan and want one, but it won't have 4G backup.

Be aware that if you leave a Telstra Upfront NBN plan within the first 24 months, you'll need to return your modem or pay a hardware fee.
Mobile broadband
Telstra also has a small range of mobile broadband plans. These can be purchased as a SIM-only option or paired with a portable modem.
How to switch to Telstra
To find out if you're eligible for a Telstra NBN plan, first check your address in our broadband search engine. If your home is covered by Telstra, all available plans will be listed in the search results.
Decide on the right plan for you, click the Go To Site button and follow the prompts. The Telstra team will help you to organise an installation date and time, plus take care of transferring your home phone number to your new account, where possible.
If you already have an NBN connection with another provider, that's no problem - simply follow the same steps as above. However, since you've already got NBN, you won't need a technician to visit your home or office. Instead, Telstra will be able to simply activate your new NBN service. In most cases, your new plan should be live within a day. Be sure to check that your old NBN plan has been cancelled with your previous provider after your Telstra service is live.
Another important thing to note: while having your premise connected to the NBN is free for most customers (excluding the upfront costs you may need to pay when signing up for a plan), if you're located in a newly developed area with no existing telecommunications infrastructure, you may be charged a $300 New Development Fee by NBN Co.
